Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features more interesting news coming out of Maryland, as the American Insurers Association (AIA) has announced its endorsement of regulatory measures under consideration there to establish uniform reimbursement rates for pharmaceuticals. AIA’s endorsement seems to come in the context of combating the issue of physician-dispensing of re-packaged drugs to avoid pharmacy fee schedules.
In their comments to the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission, AIA also suggested that the Commission consider prohibiting all physician-dispensing to avoid gaps in tracking excessive and inappropriate utilization.
