Today’s edition of WorkCompRecap features new results released by the SFN group from their January update of the SFN Group Employee Confidence Index, which now stands at 52.8 after a 1.7 point increase last month. The index measures both worker confidence in their personal employment situation and their optimism about the economy, and for the second month in a row, the number of workers who believe the economy is getting stronger has increased, moving from twenty-five to twenty-nine percent.

Also released was a statement from Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis on the results of the Department of Labor’s Employment numbers for January. In her statement Secretary Solis seemed to echo the workforce’s rising optimism, as she shared that the unemployment rate had declined to nine percent, decreasing by 0.8 points in the last two months.
