Today’s edition of WorkCompRecap features a bit of legislative news, as the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) calls for improvements in proposed changes to Maryland workers’ compensation regulations. The newly proposed regulation would establish guidelines for reviewing and approving proposed workers’ compensation settlement agreements in compliance with the review thresholds established by CMS.
PCI stated their belief that “the regulations will make settlement of Maryland workers’ compensation claims more cumbersome and force injured or disabled workers to hire expensive legal assistance to navigate the complex language of those claims…” adding that the complexities created may mean that workers could have to wait 3-6 months dependent on CMS’ approval of a settlement.
