Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features more industry report news with the 2010 issue of the National Insurance Crimes Bureau (NICB)’s Questionable Claims (QC) Referral Reasons analysis. Questionable claims here are defined as claims that NICB member insurers refer to the NICB for closer review and investigation.
While the report covers six referral reason categories, ranging from property and casualty to vehicle and miscellaneous, Workers’ Compensation also received dedicated coverage, and the categories are broken out individually, allowing readers to see Work Comp specific info.
Interesting details include a slight decrease in the number of total Work Comp referrals for review between 2009 and 2010, and that “Inflated Medical Billing” review referrals actually increased by almost 40% over 2009.
