One Call Medical Promotes Don Duford to CEO

January 2, 2011 - WorkCompWire

Strategic Leadership Will Bring Continued Market Growth and Success

Parsippany, NJ (January 3, 2011) – One Call Medical (OCM), the nation’s leading provider of diagnostic testing (including MRI and CT scans) and specialty services (e.g. transportation and translation), today announced the promotion of Don Duford to the position of chief executive officer.

Since joining One Call Medical in 2004, Duford has served as president and chief operating officer for the last six years.

Previously serving as CEO and chairman of the board, Kent Spafford will now exclusively serve as Chairman and remain fully involved in helping to formulate the company’s strategies primarily in the areas of acquisitions, legislative updates, and regulatory issues.
He will also continue direct work with key customers and partners. In regards to Duford’s appointment, Spafford said, “The board and One Call Medical are pleased to welcome Don into his new leadership position. In his previous post as president and chief operating officer, Don demonstrated exemplary leadership and a track record of outstanding results.  We feel confident he has the vision to take One Call Medical into the next stage of the company’s growth and expansion.”

Don Duford said, “One Call Medical will stay committed to understanding and addressing today’s key workers’ compensation challenges. We strive to address these ‘pain points’ with our evolving portfolio of specialty solutions. Moving forward, our strong commitment to being true partners with our customers and our outstanding level of customer service will continue to serve as our platform for success. With the addition of STOPS, a subsidiary of One Call Medical, we’ve also entered a new phase of our company’s strategy—growth through acquisition—which will require skillful integration of businesses and focus on creating unique value for customers, partners, and other stakeholders.”

By delivering a suite of easy-to-use, efficient and cost-effective specialty services that help claims professionals achieve superior outcomes, One Call Medical has experienced phenomenal growth even in a difficult economy. On an annual basis, One Call Medical performs more than 400,000 diagnostic tests and saves clients more than $150 million.

The company’s proprietary analytics have helped clients capture the greatest value for diagnostic tests in terms of quality, accuracy, timeliness, and cost savings. And the
acquisition of STOPS has enabled OCM to better serve the demographics of today’s workforce, which often requires transportation and translation services to expedite critical appointments in workers’ compensation.

Duford has 30 years of experience in delivering specialized managed care services to
workers’ compensation, healthcare, and group disability plan administrators. Prior to joining
OCM, Duford served as president of CIGNA Integrated Care, a subsidiary created to deliver
integrated services across all disability and health benefit plans. Other positions held by
Duford include president of Intracorp, a national case management company, and senior
vice president of Cigna’s HealthCare National Accounts Unit.
