Older and Safer, or Just Older?

January 13, 2011 - WorkCompWire

Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features a report draft released by the California Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation. The draft of “Working Safer or Just Working Longer? The Impact of an Aging Workforce on Occupational Injury and Illness Costs” seeks to examine the difference in injury frequencies and costs between older and younger workers, and the effects of these differences on workers’ compensation.

The CHSWC associates its report with concerns about an aging workforce, both in the form of the “Baby Boomer” group’s large scale, and of injuries to older workers that may drive occupational costs, increasing workers’ compensation costs for employers.
