Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features coverage of Marsh’s 2011 North American Insurance Market Report, which seems to hold little good news for the Workers’ Compensation space, or other commercial lines.
The Marsh report also shares that despite an increase in underlying loss rates actions in California and New York, workers’ compensation insurance remained a buyers’ market in 2010, with average rates declining 5.2 percent in the fourth quarter, and with the exception of an industry-wide catastrophic loss, the market will remain competitive. In a bit of interesting People on the Move News, Dane Street, a Peer Review provider in the Work Comp space, has just announced that it has appointed Tom Downey to its Board of Directors. This is the second announcement from Dane Street this month, and some astute readers may recall that this month’s earlier appointment was of Ken Loffredo. Downey and Loffredo are a Senior VP and the CEO from MedAllocators, Inc., which is an independent national provider of Medicare Set Aside Services, and it looks like the pair will continue to jointly bring value to the Dane Street board as well. You can read Downey’s announcement here, and Loffredo’s here.
