CA CHSWC Posts for Feedback “Use of Compound Drugs, Medical Foods, and Co-Packs in California’s Workers’ Compensation Program: An Overview of the Issues”

January 30, 2011 - WorkCompWire

OAKLAND — The Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation (CHSWC) is pleased to announce the release of the Working Paper “Use of Compound Drugs, Medical Foods, and Co-Packs in California’s Workers’ Compensation Program: An Overview of the Issues.” The Working Paper was prepared by RAND for the Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation (CHSWC) at the request of the Legislature.

The Working Paper explores the issues surrounding the use of compound drugs, co-packs and medical foods under the California workers’ compensation program and assesses whether policy changes are needed to promote medically appropriate and efficient use of these products. The report has been delivered to the Legislature in response to a legislative request. CHSWC invites public comment via email to chswc@dir.ca.gov by March 1, 2010.

CHSWC is charged with examining the health and safety and workers’ compensation systems in California and recommending administrative or legislative modifications to improve their operation. The Commission was established to conduct a continuing examination of the workers’ compensation system and of the state’s activities to prevent industrial injuries and occupational illnesses and to examine those programs in other states.

Information about the Working Paper “Use of Compound Drugs, Medical Foods, and Co-Packs in California’s Workers’ Compensation Program: An Overview of the Issues” and CHSWC is available at www.dir.ca.gov/chswc and by writing to the Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation, 1515 Clay Street, Room 901, Oakland, CA 94612, by calling (510) 622-3959, by faxing a request to (510) 622-3265, or by emailing chswc@dir.ca.gov.
