PMSI Announces New, Clinically Based Home Healthcare Solution

November 11, 2010 - WorkCompWire

Innovative, Clinically Based Approach Delivers Significant Benefits

Tampa, Florida (November 11, 2010) – PMSI, one of the nation’s largest providers of specialty products and services for the workers’ compensation market, announced today the launch of its enhanced home health care program. By integrating established clinical guidelines, a broad network of providers and insightful reporting of outcomes, the program provides access to high quality home health services while controlling costs for clients across the claims management life cycle.

“Our new home health care program takes a fresh approach to the management and delivery of this very challenging service line and ensures appropriate utilization for our clients,” said Eileen Auen, chairman and CEO of PMSI. “Our approach is an illustration of how PMSI is delivering quantifiable results through clinically based programs that control costs and expedite return-to-work.”

PMSI’s research shows that nearly 44 percent of home health transactions will also require additional services in areas such as durable medical equipment (DME), rehabilitation devices, and medical supplies. PMSI’s new approach to home health care is based on a proprietary rules engine that includes industry-specific data and established clinical guidelines. By applying clinical oversight and evaluating the progression of care, the program enables early detection of inappropriate utilization of both home health and associated cost areas. Customers are provided with actionable information and specific recommendations that offer opportunities to modify treatment plans in ways that improve outcomes and lower costs. Through this approach, PMSI has identified opportunities to deliver 12 to 18 percent cost savings on home health care and related services.

“PMSI is focused on the delivery of scientific, evidence-based care in conjunction with clinical expertise. This combination delivers higher quality and predictable costs,” commented Jay Krueger, PMSI’s Chief Strategy Officer. “Given PMSI’s broad service offering, we can clinically coordinate all the needs arising during home health service and assure that the right care is delivered at the right time with the right intensity.”
