Aegis Health Group Selected by Mount Carmel Health System in Ohio to Launch Employer-Directed Business Development Program

October 19, 2010 - WorkCompWire

NASHVILLE, Tenn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aegis Health Group announced today that it has been selected by Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, Ohio, to help develop and oversee a business development strategy designed to increase market share and help build a healthier community. Using Aegis’ program, Mount Carmel Health System’s four hospitals will begin working with local employers to better manage the health of their workforce and link hospital-sponsored programs and services with the specific health-related needs of local businesses.

Mount Carmel Health System operates four hospitals – St. Anne’s, New Albany Surgical Hospital, Mount Carmel East and Mount Carmel West – which together serve more than 500,000 patients each year. Located in central Ohio, the system has some 8,000 employees and 1,500 physicians on its medical staff.

Through this new agreement with Aegis, these hospitals will offer employers a cost-effective solution to address their rapidly rising health-related costs. Aegis will provide the hospitals with proprietary tools and employer relations specialists housed on each hospital campus to help make this happen. Using data gathered through personal health profiles, at-risk employees will be matched with appropriate early detection, prevention and education initiatives offered by the hospitals.

“With an increased focus on health improvement nationally, more and more hospitals are taking the lead in improving the health of their local communities,” said Henry Ross, president and chief executive officer of Aegis. “As hospitals establish lasting relationships with local employers and their workforces, they are able to grow market share and provide a valuable benefit to area residents. It’s a win for everyone.”

Aegis is the nation’s leading healthcare business development company whose programs can currently be found in more than 4,000 employer sites across the country. Employers participating in these programs repeatedly recognize significant dollar savings in employee health costs, absenteeism, healthcare premiums, workers’ compensation and other healthcare-related expenditures.
