Chesapeake Employers Expands Claimant Health Services, Hires Pharmacist

Towson, MD – Chesapeake Employers’ Insurance Company recently added Danielle Quinn, PharmD, to the organization’s expanding Health Services department. As the Pharmacist Case Manager, Ms. Quinn is responsible for managing the Pharmacy Utilization Program, which includes providing oversight of prescription drug use and reviewing prescription medications to ensure they are medically appropriate.

“Ms. Quinn will work with providers on prescription medicines to help minimize addiction and misuse so injured workers have a greater chance of returning to meaningful employment,” explains Dr. Stephen Fisher, Director of Health Services for Chesapeake Employers. “She will also provide outreach for medical providers and pharmacists to offer educational materials and support for injured workers.”

Chesapeake Employers has been steadily expanding its Health Services department over the years, and Pharmacy is an integral component of Chesapeake Employers’ Pain Management Program. It is staffed with 25 nurses, three physicians, a physical therapist, and now a pharmacist. These medical experts work with nurse case managers and medical billing specialists to ensure injured workers receive medical services that are reasonable and necessary. They also provide oversight to ensure that medical services meet quality standards and are directed toward injury resolution and return to work where possible.

Prior to joining Chesapeake Employers, Ms. Quinn worked for UnitedHealth Group as a Clinical Pharmacist for more than five years. She also worked as a Resident Pharmacist for Walgreens.

In 2011, Ms. Quinn earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from St. John’s University in Queens, NY. She was a Phi Lambda Sigma member and held leadership positions in the American Pharmacists Association.
