Denver, CO – The Pinnacol Foundation recently announced that it welcomed Michael Gifford and Doug Ruegsegger to its board of directors this month. The Foundation provides scholarships to children whose parents have been injured or killed in work-related accidents, regardless of insurance carrier.
Gifford has been president and CEO of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Colorado since 2008. As the leader of an organization representing over 400 firms in the construction, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades, Gifford understands the importance of skilled labor. He will bring perspective on how the Foundation can support students pursuing vocational and trade education.
Ruegsegger, a founder and managing member of the Ruegsegger Simons Smith & Stern law firm, will contribute valuable legal input to the Foundation board. He is a longtime Foundation supporter and donor, and as a recipient of a scholarship in his college years, he understands the mindset of the Foundation’s student applicants.
The Pinnacol Foundation was established in 2000 as a charitable nonprofit entity by Pinnacol Assurance, Colorado’s leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance. Since that time, the Foundation has awarded scholarships totaling nearly $4 million to over 400 children of injured workers. Scholarship funds are raised through corporate and private donations, and annual fundraising events.
