Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the Ohio BWC’s recent announcement of the launch of its Enhanced Care Program, which seeks to reduce treatment delays and give physicians increased flexibility in the treatment of injured workers. The program will initially target reducing obstacles that delay or fragment care to workers with knee injuries who live in one of the 16 pilot counties.
Physicians who participate will be expected to serve as the primary point of care, and will establish a comprehensive care plan and coordinate with specialists and primary-care doctors to manage the claim holistically with a goal of faster, safer return to work. In exchange, they will be able to treat with the assurance of being paid instead of waiting for approvals and adjudications, and will be eligible for a 15% incentive payment over and above current fee schedule for certain services.
