WorkCompRecap: Enhanced & Approved!

Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features Broadspire’s recent announcement of enhancements to its Comprehensive Assessment and Management of Pain (CAMP) Program, which uses evidence-based medicine along with a systemic approach to identify and address the needs of individuals in pain.

The new enhancements include an opioid tapering component as well as a “first opioid fill” program which initiates contact within two weeks of the start of opioids with both treating physician and patient and includes education and intervention triggers. Broadspire noted that the “opioid epidemic” has resulted in up to a nine-fold increase in morbidity and mortality, with dosages increasing over the years despite little evidence of any long term benefits.
