NAIC Releases Annual Report: “Pillars of Strength”

AUSTIN, TEXAS (March 26, 2011) — The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) today released its 2010 Annual Report, “Pillars of Strength.” Focusing on the solid foundation of state-based regulation, the report recounts the accomplishments and progress of the past year, highlighting how state insurance regulators have provided resilience and support during a challenging period of reform.

“The past year provided a challenge to — and an affirmation of — the foundational strength of state-based insurance regulation,” said Dr. Therese M. (Terri) Vaughan, NAIC Chief Executive Officer. “Over the year, our collective expertise has informed a variety of important issues having implications for the future. This year’s annual report allows us to take a look back at the developments of the past year, while inviting us to look forward to the possibilities of the future.”

The Annual Report provides an overview of regulatory activities in the following areas: health care reform, financial regulatory reform, market regulation, Solvency Modernization Initiative and consumer education.

The report also includes a copy of the NAIC’s audited financial statements, a complete membership list, an organizational chart and a list of accreditations and special awards given during 2010.
